Technical difficulties

Saturday I was making some toast to go with my cream of wheat. I sat down and ate breakfast and later came back in the kitchen to clean up and make some lunch. I wondered who made toast. Then I realized I had made it but forgotten to eat it. Dummy.

This morning I was making coffee and then I went to make some hard boiled eggs. I went to pour my coffee and noticed the coffee pot was never turned on. I'm doing good. I went to grab my toast and realized I never pushed it down or plugged it in. Wow I'm on some kind of roll here huh?

On another note. Do you do anything sort of gross? I'm really into clean things. Clean stove, clean kitchen and twice washed dishes. However, every morning I grab the coffee pot dump out yesterdays coffee and then just do a little swish with water and start over. I don't know why I don't wash the pot with soap each time. Is this gross? Do you use soap every morning? Do you have something half gross you do every day?

I have an iced tea pitcher that I just swish water in. I don't put sugar in the tea, so I don't really see the point. I put it in the dishwasher after I've made maybe four pots of tea. It's definitely getting stained, though.

I've heard that you actually aren't supposed to wash out your carafe with soap very often... I don't remember why. I know you're supposed to clean the coffee maker once every couple of months by running a white vinegar & water mixture through it, and if your carafe starts to look dingy you can always throw it in the dishwasher!

I do the same thing with the coffee pot. 2-4 times a month, I run it through the dishwasher, but that's it. Hell, I figure: it had coffee in it, and I'm going to put more coffee in it, so it's not so bad. Besides, nobody drinks straight from the carafe anyway.

My coffee pot gets washed about once a week ...I just swish with water the rest of the time. I think the coffee tastes better when it hasn't been washed.

That is totally disgusting to me. I have to wash my coffee pot with soap and water every time I use it. The people at my work do the same thing where they leave yesterday's coffee in it overnight and then just dump it out, give it a quick rinse and start the next days coffee in it. That is why I don't ever drink coffee that is made in my office, plus they use shitty coffee and I am a total coffee snob. But ekkk, that is one thing that totally grosses me out. I've seen people do that with their coffee mugs too and I want to puke every time I see it happen.

I wash mine in the dishwasher once a week... other than that, it gets the old swish-a-roo before a fresh pot.

I also will drink leftover coffee in the evenings if I'm craving a cup but don't want to make a whole pot. I pour it in a cup, pop it in the microwave, and voila. Yum. It is MUCH stronger in the afternoon, and I'm sure has some bacteria floating around in it. But my grandmother and mother-in-law do it too, and they aren't dead, so I figure it can't be that dangerous. :)

No, I'm totally guilty of the swish and wash too. Oops.

coffee pots totally gross me out & the mess...with the filter and the grind residue...yuck.

Last Christmas I got the Tassimo, coffee packet you put in the machine it makes one cup, no filter because the grinds stay in the plastic container...a coffee lifesaver!!!

I always wash my kitchen counter tops with just plain water. I never realized how gross this was until my friend E pointed it out to me.

Not only do I swish the coffee pot like you do, but I swish my coffee cup too. And when I was single, I swished just about every dish I owned b/c I only owned about a dozed dishes. Who needs soap when you are single? Apparently, cleanliness comes with marriage.

Ah... The list of things that I do that are gross... I take a shower about 3 times a week only because at that point my hair starts to look greasy. I clean my counters with just water too. Now though I really like my new vinegar-lemon juice solution because I don't like chemicals, boy is it a grease cutter. Anyway. I rewear my wool socks. My car is a mess with dishes and red bull cans. I only wash my vibrator every other time. Oh. too much info? Ha. Thought I'd give ya'll a laugh. Now you know my dirtiness. It really isn't THAT bad though...
